Attack on Milind Ekbote in Pune court

Pune – Milind Ekbote, the president of Samast Hindu Aghadi, a right wing organisation, and main accused in the Koregaon Bhima violence, was attacked in Pune district court when he was produced for remand hearing. Court has extended his police custody till March 21.

As officials from Pune rural police were escorting him out of the court in Shivajinagar, a youth tried to throw black ink on Ekbote. However cops overpowered him. The youth has been detained.

On January 1, when lakhs of people had gathered to commemorate the 200th anniversary of famous battle of Koregaon Bhima, about 25 km from Pune on Ahmednagar highway, violence had erupted leading to death of a youth and injuries to several others. Properties worth crores were damaged. Later it emerged that Maratha and Dalits groups had clashed.
