Shillong, 14th March 2025: A case of sexual harassment has been registered against an Army Brigadier in Shillong, Meghalaya, following a complaint by the wife of a Colonel-ranked officer. The police have not made any arrests so far.

According to an NDTV report, the complaint was filed last Monday, detailing multiple incidents of alleged misconduct by the senior officer. The woman alleged that the Brigadier used abusive language and issued threats during an event at the Officers’ Mess on March 8. She stated that he repeatedly made inappropriate remarks, used offensive language, and even physically assaulted her, prompting her husband to intervene. She further claimed that the accused, who is their neighbor, poses a threat to their safety.

The complaint also cites a previous incident from April 13, 2024, when the Brigadier allegedly commented on her attire during a griha pravesh (housewarming) ceremony hosted by a colleague. Additionally, two months later, during a dinner at her residence, the accused reportedly grabbed her hand forcefully in the presence of her husband.

The case has sparked concerns over misconduct within the armed forces, and authorities are expected to take further action after investigation.
