Pune, 14th August 2024: Apple users are likely to be disappointed as reports indicate that the AI features to be introduced in iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia will not be free. The Cupertino-based tech giant recently unveiled its new AI suite, Apple Intelligence, which is set to bring advanced capabilities to iPhones, iPads, and Macs. However, these features may come with a monthly subscription fee of approximately $20 (₹1,680). This development comes as Apple prepares to launch its much-anticipated iPhone 16 Series later this year, marking a significant shift in the company’s strategy.

The decision to charge for these Artificial Intelligence (AI) features is reportedly driven by the high costs associated with their development and implementation. According to industry analysts, Apple is expected to recoup these expenses by passing them on to users through subscription fees. This approach aligns with trends in the tech industry, where companies like Google are already charging users for similar AI-driven services. Google, for example, offers an AI One Plan that provides access to its Gemini AI and other tools for around ₹2,000 per month.

This move by Apple has sparked discussion among users and experts alike. Some speculate that the company might initially offer these AI features for free before transitioning to a subscription-based model. This phased approach could allow users to test the new functionalities before committing to a paid plan.

As the launch of the iPhone 16 Series approaches, the tech world is keenly observing how Apple’s AI features will perform and how this pricing strategy will influence user adoption and overall market reception.
