Mumbai, 13th July 2023: Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film, OMG 2, was initially scheduled to release in August. However, recent reports indicate that the movie has encountered a hurdle with the Central Board of Certification (CBFC). One report suggests that the Censor Board has placed a hold on the film’s release, while another claims that it has been sent to the Revision Committee for a thorough review. This development follows the controversy surrounding the dialogues in the film Adipurush.

According to sources from India Today, the Censor Board’s decision to send OMG 2 to the revising committee is a preemptive measure. The board wants to avoid a similar backlash that occurred after the release of Adipurush last month. Adipurush faced criticism due to certain controversial dialogues, which prompted the makers to modify them post-release, accompanied by an apology from dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir.

While Akshay Kumar and director Amit Rai have yet to address these reports, a reliable source close to the film has informed ETimes that there are currently no problems. They stated that the censor board process is still ongoing. The report also mentioned that after watching the film recently, the Censor Board recommended that it be submitted to the Revision Committee.

The teaser of OMG 2 was unveiled earlier this week, confirming Akshay Kumar’s portrayal of Lord Shiva, with the actor sporting dreadlocks. In the film, Akshay plays the role of a deity, while Pankaj Tripathi takes on the role of a devotee. The cast also includes Yami Gautam and Arun Govil.

OMG 2 serves as a sequel to the 2012 film OMG, which starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. The release date for OMG 2 has been set for August 11, coinciding with the release of Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and Rajinikanth’s Jailer.
