Akasa Air’s Pune-Delhi Flight Diverted To Mumbai For Emergency Landing After Passenger Claims To Have Bomb In Luggage Bag

Pune 21st Oct 2023: The passengers travelling in Akasa Air’s Pune-Delhi flight were horrified after one of the passengers onboard claimed to have a bomb in his bag. The incident took place after the flight took off from Pune Airport and was moving towards Delhi.

The claim made by the passengers alerted the airline staff and concerned officials were informed. The decision was taken to divert the flight to Mumbai Airport where the team of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was already waiting. The BDDS officials thoroughly checked the passenger’s bag after the flight landed at the Mumbai Airport but found nothing suspicious.

“Akasa Air flight QP 1148, flying from Pune to Delhi at 00:07 hrs on October 21, 2023, and carrying 185 passengers and six crew members on board, received a security alert shortly after take-off” Akasa Air stated in an official statement.

“As per safety and security procedures, the plane was diverted to Mumbai. The Captain followed all required emergency procedures and landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 00:42 hrs” the statement added.

The passenger has been taken into custody by the Airport Police in Mumbai and they are investigating further in the matter.
