Mumbai, 5th July 2023: In a recent development, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is reportedly planning to approach the Election Commission to assert his claim on the symbol and name of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). According to reliable sources, Ajit Pawar aims to stake his authority over the party’s emblem and nomenclature.

Simultaneously, Sharad Pawar, founder of the NCP and uncle of Ajit Pawar, has taken preemptive measures by filing a caveat with the Election Commission. The purpose behind this legal safeguard is to ensure that the EC gives a fair hearing to Sharad Pawar’s camp before reaching any decision regarding the party symbol and name.

The ongoing rift within the NCP has intensified with these latest actions, as the two factions led by Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar vie for control over the party’s identity. This power struggle has led both leaders to seek recourse through the Election Commission, emphasizing the significance of the party’s symbol and name in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
