Pune, 1st June 2024: In Pune’s Kalyani Nagar Porsche incident, where a minor allegedly drunk killed two young IT engineers, many criticisms have been directed towards the Pune police as well as the Maharashtra State Government.

Wadgaon Sheri MLA from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sunil Tingre, has been implicated in this criticism. Being from Ajit Pawar’s NCP, the opposition is slamming Tingre and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar. However, Pawar has responded to these criticisms, stating that the Police and State Government are doing a good job and nobody will be spared in this case.

Pawar, who is also the Pune District’s Guardian Minister, addressed the media in Pune this morning, denying all allegations of an attempt to suppress the accident case. Pawar stated, “The opposition is making accusations, and this is their right. However, action is being taken against the accused in this case. When we received information about the accident, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and I, as the guardian minister of the Pune district, ordered an inquiry. As the inquiry progressed, many names were revealed.”

Pawar further said, “The minor accused obtained bail within 15 hours from the Juvenile Justice Board, a decision made by the court; the government had no role in it. Multiple sections were added in the case against the minor accused when senior police officials got involved. During the investigation, it was revealed that two police officers were negligent in handling the case and they were suspended. Doctors at Sassoon Hospital were also found guilty, and action was taken against them.”

Finally, Pawar stated, “An inquiry is ongoing to determine whose blood samples were forwarded in the name of the minor. Minister Hasan Mushrif was abroad when the accident occurred. Sassoon Hospital falls under the purview of the Directorate of Medical Education & Research. He has also ordered an inquiry into the matter. Minister of State Excise (Maharashtra), Shambhuraj Desai, has also given instructions to his department. Everyone has taken this matter seriously.”

Defending Tingre, Pawar remarked, “MLA Sunil Tingre did not pressure anyone after the accident. If an incident occurs in the constituency, MLAs go to that place.”
