New Delhi, 24th October 2024: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has developed a model scheme for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course. The three- and four-year curriculum considers industry needs and emerging trends while incorporating on-the-job training for students to gain hands-on experience alongside their education. AICTE has directed higher education institutions to take the necessary steps to accept this course and has released a circular in this regard.

From this year, AICTE has taken over the BBA, BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies), and Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) courses, applying its regulations to these programs. Additionally, AICTE has announced the development of a new syllabus. Experts from industry and education have collaboratively created this new syllabus for the BBA program. A model syllabus of 120 to 160 credits has been prepared for the three- and four-year BBA courses, keeping in mind the basic principles, emerging trends, and the needs of the industry sector.

Interdisciplinary learning, experiential methodology, problem-solving skills, and effective communication are core components of the curriculum, with an emphasis on industry-related projects and critical thinking. Internships have also been included to bridge the gap between industry and education. Higher education institutions have the freedom to understand the model curriculum and modify it according to their local needs. AICTE has stated that this course will enhance students’ employability and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship. The admission process for the BBA course is conducted through the Maharashtra State’s Common Admission Cell (CET Cell) via centralized admission. Until last year, this admission process was conducted at the college level.
