Wanowrie, 19th August 2024: In a day filled with inspiration and hope, the Artificial Limb Centre (ALC) in Pune had the distinct privilege of welcoming Padmashree Muralikant Petkar, the celebrated Paralympic gold medalist. Renowned for his extraordinary achievements in paralympic sports, Petkar’s visit on Saturday (August 17th) was a momentous occasion, deeply impacting both the staff and patients of the Centre.

Petkar was warmly received by Brigadier CN Satish, Commandant of ALC, along with all ranks. His visit was marked by a tour of the Centre, where he engaged with patients, staff, and a group of schoolchildren who were also visiting. His presence radiated encouragement, especially to the amputee patients, who saw in him a living testament to overcoming physical, mental, and social challenges.

During his address, Petkar shared his personal journey of triumph over adversity. His story of resilience and determination served as a powerful source of motivation, fostering an environment of hope within the Centre. “Your strength is not measured by the obstacles you face, but by the courage with which you overcome them,” he emphasized, resonating deeply with his audience.

The Artificial Limb Centre, Pune, holds a venerable position as the premier rehabilitation centre for the Indian Armed Forces. For nearly 80 years, ALC has been a sanctuary of healing, rehabilitating thousands of amputee patients and instilling in them the belief that the future holds promise.
