Two More Persons Arrested In Pune Minor Girl Gang Rape Case, 19 Accused Nabbed Till Now

Pune, 16th September 2021: Two more persons have been arrested by Pune city police in connection with the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl earlier this month. Both the accused were produced before a special court which has sent them to police custody for 10 days.
Police said that the arrested persons Mehboob Badshah Shaikh (28) and Ismail Latif Shaikh (36), both residents of Vaiduwadi in Hadapsar, are friends of the earlier arrested accused. They are directly involved in the sexual assault of the minor girl.
According to Wanowrie Police station officials, investigations have also revealed that some of the accused had filmed the sexual assault on their mobile phones. Till now a total of 19 accused have been arrested in the case. The girl was raped by the accused at multiple places in Pune and Mumbai. The accused include many autorickshaw drivers, two railway employees. Her friend is also arrested whom she had gone to meet at the Pune railway station but he had not turned up. She was kidnapped from there and raped for two days in Pune. The accused had made her sit on the train to Mumbai where another person, Rajesh Shantaram Kumbhar (32) raped her in Thane.
Police have also arrested Ashok Kalyan Chavan (32), manager of Govind Lodge located on the old Mumbai-Pune highway in Shivajinagar, and Jayesh Vithalrao Misal (49), manager of Rajratan lodge. Chavan had not entered her name in the register before giving entry while Misal had written false details of the girl.

- Akbar Umar Shaikh (32), AC Repair mechanic from Juna Bazar
- Rafiq Murtaja Shaikh (32), autorickshaw driver from Juna Bazar
- Azharuddin Islamuddin Ansari (27), autorickshaw driver from Kasewadi
- Prashant Samuel Gaikwad (32), occupation – service, resident of Tadiwala Road
- Rajkumar Ramangina Prasad (21), occupation – service, resident of Ghorpadi
- Noib Naim Khan (24), autorickshaw driver from Bopodi
- Meerawali alias Meera Aziz Shaikh (24), carpenter from Juna Bazar
- Asif Firoz Pathan (36), autorickshaw driver from Lohiyanagar
- Shahjur alias Siraj Saheblal Chhaparband (28), watchman from Kondhwa
- Sameer Mahboob Shaikh (19), occupation- fabrication, resident of Kondhwa
- Firoz alias Shahrukh Saheblal Shaikh (22), plumber from Kondhwa
- Mahboob alias Gaus Satar Shaikh (23), labourer from Kondhwa
- Victim’s friend (19 years)
