Pune: When Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Drives Autorickshaw

Baramati, 28 August 2021: In a surprising move, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra State Ajit Pawar drove an electric autorickshaw in Baramati for some distance.  Pawar surprised many people present for the program.

Piaggio company developed the electric rickshaw and handed it over to Baramati municipal council as part of its CSR. The company gave three electric rickshaws, one CNG based and one Petrol.

Pawar took a ride in the rickshaw and checked its efficiency.

Company president Diego Graffy was sitting in the rickshaw behind Pawar during the ride.

Pawar while talking on the occasion said that the company should take up electric vehicle making and invest in research.

He said, “The future lies in green fuel as there will be limitations to the use of petrol and diesel. We have decided to buy electric buses for the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC).”

The company must ensure that they invest in researching vehicles that will run on electric and CNG in the future.
