Pune: Community Outreach Drive Organized At INS Shivaji Ahead Of Independence Day Celebrations

Lonavala, 14th August 2021: As a part of commemoration activities to be observed under “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Swarnim Vijay Varsh”,  INHS Kasturi organised a COVID -19 mass vaccination drive for domestic help and casual labourer as a community outreach drive on 13 August 21.

According to the Indian Navy’s INS Shivaji, although the service personnel and the defence civilians and their dependents have already been vaccinated, the drive was primarily aimed at vaccinating the casual labourers and workers who visit the station. The drive would benefit the underprivileged against the COVID-19 pandemic and would entice a sense of belongingness towards the Navy and the nation.

The camp was inaugurated by Cmde Arvind Rawal, Station Commander Lonavala in presence of Surg Capt Athar Mohd, CO INHS Kasturi

A total of 155 personnel got vaccinated with Covaxin as the first dose with the vaccines issued by the Pune district administration. The entire vaccination drive was conducted with strict COVID-19 protocol.

This mass welfare measure would go a long way towards a pandemic free environment inside INS Shivaji campus.
