Pune: Now You Can Travel In PMPML AC Buses For Rs 10 From July 9, 300 Buses To Join Fleet By December

Pune, 6th July 2021: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will launch midi AC buses for the central areas of Pune city on July 9 and people can travel in these buses many times for just Rs 10.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Standing Committee chairman Hemant Rasne today informed that in the first phase 50 buses will ply in all Peth areas, Deccan to Pulgate, Swargate to Pune Station and Swargate to Shivajinagar.

“This plan was presented during the 2020-21 budget. In the first phase, from 9th July, 50 attractive pink colour buses will start plying in the central part of Pune. Thereafter, the scheme will be extended to six divisions across the city by providing 300 buses by December.

The ticket price for this scheme is Rs 10 which can be used several times a day to travel. These air-conditioned (AC) buses will have a seating capacity of 24. The small size buses will help reduce traffic congestion on narrow roads. The CNG operated buses will be available every five minutes on main roads and every fifteen minutes on internal roads,” Rasne said.

Adding to it he said, “Cheap, fast, comfortable, time-saving and safe travel are the hallmarks of this scheme. It will help reduce traffic jams, parking problems, pollution and health complaints. It can save a lot of fuel, time, and money for the passengers. The plan has the potential to change the face of the city’s public transport system. Till date, due to the lack of an efficient public transport system, people used their own two-wheelers or four-wheelers. But through this ‘Punyadasham’ scheme, people will get the option to switch from private vehicles to public transport. I am confident that the people of Pune will respond well to this scheme.”

Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil will inaugurate the scheme at 1 pm on Friday (July 9) at Aryan parking, Mahatma Phule Mandai.

Mayor Murlidhar Mohol will preside over the function while MP Girish Bapat, BJP city president Jagdish Mulik, MLA Mukta Tilak, Madhuri Misal, Bhimrao Tapkir, Sunil Kamble, Siddharth Shirole, Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar, PMC Leader of the House Ganesh Bidkar, Leader of Opposition Deepali Dhumal, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, and administrative officers of PMPML will be also present.
