Kothrud, 22nd June 2021: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today protested against the MIT-World Peace University administration over the refund issue of international study tour fees.

According to ABVP, the university charges Rs two lakh per student. However, the students could not go for the international tour due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, parents of these students have asked the university to refund the amount. However, they are not getting the amount back.

During the agitation, 20 activists including Anil Thombre and Shubham Bhutkar were arrested.

Meanwhile, MIT-WPU has issued a clarification. “We have provided three options for BTech (Final Year) 2020-21 students of MIT World Peace University. The first option is an international study tour (the student can go anytime in the next three years). The second option is online courses at a reputed foreign university and the third option is to refund students who do not accept both of the above options. The university administration had taken this decision 20 days ago, said Prof Dr Prasad Khandekar, Dean, Engineering and Technology.

“The case was closed altogether after MIT World Peace University offered three options to BTech students. Despite this, some activists are trying to discredit MIT WPU unnecessarily. It is noteworthy that not a single student of the engineering branch of the university participated in this agitation,” Khandekar clarified.
