Pune: Police Fine Tourists Who Flocked To Lonavala, Mulshi, Sinhgad On Sunday
Pune, 14th June 2021: A large number of tourists were fined on Sunday by Pune rural police for violating norms and visiting Lonavala, Sinhgad as well as various places in Mulshi and Velhe talukas. At present, tourism is banned due to the high positivity rate of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) in the rural areas of the district.
Lonavala: Tourists from Pune-Mumbai thronged the Lonavala-Khandala leading to traffic jams in the area. There were queues of vehicles. Police took action against the tourists. The Lonavla city police had cordoned off the Naval Garden area on the way to Bhushi Dam and sent back the tourist vehicles. Thousands of tourists had arrived in Lonavala in Maval taluka by car. As a result, there were queues of vehicles for four to five kilometers on the old Mumbai-Pune National Highway. The queue of vehicles near Bhangarwadi railway crossing had reached Nangargaon. The Pawanmaval and Andarmaval areas of Maval were crowded with tourists. The expressway was overcrowded.
Sinhgad: A crowd of Punekars had gathered in the Sinhgad area since Sunday morning. A large number of tourists had arrived in Sinhgad fort, Panshet, Khadakwasla area.
The Mulshi and Tamhini Ghat areas were also crowded with tourists on Sunday.
Velhe: Assistant Police Inspector Manoj Pawar of Velhe police station said that there is a ban on visiting Rajgad, Torna and Madheghat. A checkpoint has been set up at Karanjawane where police imposed a total of Rs 75,000 fine on people on Sunday.
