Pune, 22nd May 2021: The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, has appealed that before taking admission, students and parents should check that the college/institute is recognised by government bodies.

Agents become active after the admissions for the new academic year begins. People are tempted to get admission in any college/institute by paying lakhs of rupees, with the risk of being frauded.

According to officials, a degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture, Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Planning, B.Voc, MBA, MCA, M.Pharmacy, ME or M.Tech, M.Arch must be approved by  All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council of India, Council of Architecture, University Grants Commission, Maharashtra State Directorate of  Technical Education, and the Government of Maharashtra. The list and information of the syllabus have been made available on the official website of the Directorate of Technical Education.

Students and parents must check the list on the website before applying for admission to any institution. DTE Director Dr Abhay Wagh appealed to not take admission in institutions or universities which do not appear under the list, or, the ones which are not approved by the Government of Maharashtra.

“There are cases of admission fraud every year without the approval of the institutions. Thus, many complaints are received from the technical education department. Students and parents should not fall prey to such fallacies” stated, Dr Wagh in a circular.
