Ratnagiri, 21st May 2021: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has made an important statement concerning the lockdown in Maharashtra after 1st June.

“Corona cases are declining but it is not wise to talk about it. The last time we had control over Corona even then we cannot forget what happens when we do not take the COVID 19 safety rules seriously, the COVID cases quadrupled because of the same.

The current Coronavirus variant is very dangerous and is spreading at an alarming rate. It is high time that we learn from past experiences and understands that the current situation is worse than it ever was. We have to follow the rules of safety even after the lockdown is over” said Thackeray while talking about the COVID circumstances in Maharashtra. He spoke to media persons in Ratnagiri.

When asked if the lockdown would extend, he said, “The situation is under control now and we will make a decision later, but no one should be careless (about the COVID norms).”

Earlier, in an interview with CNBC; state environment minister Aditya Thackeray said, “ We are trying to increase the number of tests and are also taking the initiative to get everyone tested. Whether the lockdown is lifted or extended will depend on the number of corona patients. Health and safety will be our priority”

Adding further on the lockdown situation, he said, “Despite the lockdown, important offices, manufacturing industry, import and export are functional in the state but to get out of the house for something unnecessary depends entirely on the number of patients.”
