Ghaziabad/Pune, 11th May 2021: A five members team of Faraskhana police station, Pune city police, who had gone to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh to arrest a woman in connection with the murder of a head constable a few days ago, was brutally attacked on Monday. Their private vehicle was also damaged by the residents.

DCP (Zone 1) Priyanka Narnavare of Pune city police told PunekarNews.in, “Our team and Ghaziabad police team were searching for the accused separately in the same area when the incident took place. The accused has been arrested and the team is on their way to Pune.”

Around midnight on May 5, Faraskhana police station’s head constable Sameer Sayyed (48) was assaulted in Budhwar Peth with a sharp weapon by a criminal on police record Praveen Mahajan of Kasba Peth.

Faraskhana police station’s Senior Inspector Rajendra Landge said that Mahajan was arrested immediately. During the investigation, the role of his woman accomplice was established who had fled to Ghaziabad. Accordingly, a team was sent there to arrest came under attack on Monday. The woman is under custody and she is being brought to Pune.

According to police, the attack took place in Deendayal Puri under Nandgram police station. Five policemen were injured in the incident. The attackers tried to snatch their identity card, mobile phone and other documents. They also damaged their SUV.

Now based on a complaint from API Abhijit Patil of Faraskhana police station, an FIR has been registered at Nandgram police station and six persons have been arrested.

Nandgram police station in-charge Neeraj Singh said that the Pune police team had come to arrest Kalpana Praveen Mahajan. On Monday, API Patil along with his four policemen Mehboob Mokashi, Amol Sarde, Mohan Dalvi, Mayur Bhokre came to Deendayal Puri to raid. During this time the woman was not found, but a young man named Ankit was found. Ankit used to often talk to her on phone.

The police team reached Ankit’s house and started questioning. During this, Ankit’s relatives and neighbours attacked the police team. When Assistant Police Inspector Patil introduced himself but the accused did not listen to him and continued to assault the police team and also snatched their identity card, mobile phone and other documents. The accused also tried to snatch weapons from them. The accused vandalized the police car with sticks and stones. Five policemen were seriously injured in the assault.

SHO Singh said, “We have arrested the accused Ankit, his father Rajkumar, brother Pramod, neighbours Shankar, Vijay and Shibbu alias Shiva. We have recovered the stolen documents and mobile phones from the accused. Other accused are being identified and they will be arrested soon.”
