Pune: Doctors, Hospital Staff Assaulted By Relatives After Patient Declared brought Dead

Kondhwa, 21 April 2021: The relatives of a patient assaulted doctors and staff of Prime Hospital near Fakri Hills in Kondhwa on Tuesday midnight after their patient was declared dead.

 

Based on a complaint of a 25-year-old doctor, who is 55 percent physically disabled, Kondhwa police station has registered an FIR against 15-20 unidentified persons.

According to police, a cardiac patient had brought a patient and the complainant examined him. However, he was not getting the pulse of the patient and informed his senior doctors. They also examined and declared the patient dead. Hearing this, the relatives of the patient got angry and started assaulting the complainant and other doctors and staff with fists, kicks, and iron rods. They also ransacked the hospital premises including the security cabin.

 

Police officials said that the patient was undergoing treatment at another hospital and then referred to Prime Hospital for further treatment but he was declared brought dead.

The case has been registered against the accused persons for offences under sections 323, 324, 504, 427, 143, 147, 149, 188, 269, 270 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage of Property) Act, Epidemic Diseases Act, Disaster Management Act.
