Pune, 6th April 2021: The administration has taken aggressive measures to curb the rapid spread of Covid-19. Against this backdrop, the Maharashtra state government and the Pune municipal corporation (PMC) have imposed strict restrictions in the city during the day and a curfew at night. As a protest against this, various trade associations gathered on Laxmi Road against the decision of the administration.

The traders raised slogans on the streets with placards protesting against the state government and PMC. At this time, many businessmen expressed their displeasure over the role of the administration. They also demanded that the decision be reconsidered.

Prashant Tikar of Laxmi Road Traders Association said, “This decision of the administration is unjust to all small and big traders. This decision will be a big blow to the already troubled traders. We should be allowed to open the shop.”

Traders and shopkeepers lined up on the footpath to protest the closure. The decision of the government will affect a  thousand shops and at least a lakh employees.
