Tea leaf becomes costlier by Rs 200 per kg, rising prices of petrol and diesel affect everything

New Delhi, February 20, 2021: Most of the country’s daily use items have become expensive by 15% in the last 50 days. The most significant jump has been seen in the prices of mustard oil, refines, rice, pulses, tea leaves, and onions.

Food items and cooking gas prices have witnessed a record jump in one and a half months. Traders said that the continuous increase in diesel price has directly affected freight booking cost, which has made grocery, consumer durables, toys, medical and building construction costlier.

Once again, vegetable prices have disturbed the kitchen budget. In Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Sonipat, many vegetables, including onions, have become expensive. Simultaneously, the highest inflation in Ghaziabad is on tea leaf and gas cylinder. The cost of tea leaf has increased from Rs 150 to Rs 200 a kg since the beginning of this year. Prices of average quality pulses have increased by Rs 5-7.

All the essential things will become expensive in the coming days due to the rise in fuel prices. Diesel is used in agriculture, and petroleum is used in fertilizer production. An increase in the price will make agriculture more expensive, increasing farmers’ loss. Meanwhile, the increase in Petrol and diesel costs will increase freight costs, resulting in further inflation.
