Maharashtra: Lockdown Declared In Amravati District Due To Increasing COVID19 Cases

Amravati, February 18, 2021: There is an atmosphere of concern in Maharashtra as there is re-emergence of Coronavirus cases. A lockdown has been declared in Amravati district while discussions are going on whether lockdown will be implemented again in the state.

The entire district will be closed from next Sunday. Essential services have been excluded. This information has been given by Amravati District Collector Shailesh Nawal.

Over the last few days, the number of corona patients in Amravati has been increasing. For the last four days, it has been rapidly increasing. As many as 435 patients were reported in Amravati on February 14 with two deaths. Also on February 15, 439 patients were found. A total of four patients died. On February 16, 495 patients were found, while on February 17, 498 patients were found. A total of 6 patients died on February 17.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had recently expressed the possibility of lockdown in Amravati, Yavatmal and Akola districts. Pawar had said that the number of corona patients was on the rise and that lockdowns were being planned in Akola, Amravati and Yavatmal.

Amravati has more patients than Mumbai and Amravati division has more patients. Therefore, we are thinking of imposing lockdown again in these three districts, Pawar had said.
