Pune, February 17, 2021: Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations have been ordered to start the strict implementation of guidelines as the number of corona patients are increasing. Also, in rural areas, there is a restriction on the assembly of more people at any place. However, there is no curfew, Pune District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh said.

After Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray interacted with state officials through video conferencing on Tuesday, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao convened a meeting of key officials in the district today. It was decided to strictly implement the guidelines on the corona.

Collector Dr Deshmukh said, “Instructions have been issued to both the Municipal Corporation and the rural areas to strictly implement the guidelines for the prevention of coronavirus spread. However, restrictions will be imposed if these guidelines are not strictly followed.”

“Currently, there is a restriction on the gathering of people in the district. Therefore, citizens will not be able to crowd in public places. However, no curfew has been imposed in the district”, he clarified.

He further said, “Even though the number of patients is increasing in Pune, there is no reason to worry. The number of tests will be increased. Currently, an average of six thousand citizens is being tested. This number will be increased to about ten thousand.”

Orders have been issued to launch a crackdown on people not wearing masks. “The area where the patient is found will be surveyed. Also, the citizens who came in contact with the patients will be traced”, informed District Collector Deshmukh.

Crowds have begun to gather at the wedding venues, and restrictions have been placed at such places. “It will be checked whether the guests at the wedding ceremonies are wearing masks or not”, he said.
