Pimpri Chinchwad, February 8, 2021: A new parking policy will be implemented by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in the city to discipline unruly drivers in the city from March 1, 2021.

The ‘Grahak Hakk Sangharsh Samiti’ has demanded that this strict policy should be canceled considering the financial condition of the citizens. The committee has warned that if the parking policy is not canceled, it will begin a ‘Bhik Mango’ agitation in front of the municipal corporation building from February 15

Amol Ubale, Chairman of the organization, has submitted a memorandum to Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar in this regard.

“The economic situation of citizens has deteriorated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By imposing an onerous parking policy, the municipal corporation is trying to make money from the pockets of the citizens,” the statement read.

The statement also raised the question as to why the parking policy is being forcibly implemented on citizens when the civil authorities can earn income from many of its other sources.

“The municipal corporation should consider this policy sympathetically as it is not suitable for the citizens,” the statement further read.

If not the policy is not canceled, the Committee has warned that it will begin the ‘Bhik Mango’ agitation in front of the PMC building in the city from February 15.
