Mumbai, January 29, 2021: MP Sanjay Raut has alleged that the violence in Delhi on Republic Day was a premeditated plot by the Center to discredit the farmers’ movement. He said the government needed to discredit the movement if it wanted to reduce the sympathy of the farmers.

Raut said, “Farmers on the Singhu border are being treated unfairly by the police, baton charges and tear gas are being used. The central government wants to use force to uproot the farmers. Yes, because a group affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party has been found to have perpetrated the violence.”

“When there are millions of farmers in the area, a group of farmers approached and were led by a person belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party and then the said incident followed”, Raut criticized the central government.

Raut said, “Until now, the farmers’ movement was carried out peacefully. They had the sympathy of the people of the country. If the sympathy for the farmers was to be diminished, the movement needed to be discredited.”

Raut further said, “No one touched the tricolour national flag. The religious flag of the Sikh community was hoisted on another dome. It has now come to light that it was the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that did all this.”

Saying that Prime Minister Modi talks about everything but does not talk about farmers’ agitation, he stated, “The government thinks the law is good but what is the use if it is not accepted by the people. Postpone this law and discuss it in Parliament. Who is arrogant in this?”

Asked about Anna Hazare’s role, Raut said, “Shiv Sena stands firmly behind the farmers. We support the demands of the farmers. Anna Hazare should support the farmers without discussing the BJP leader’s proposal and protest. He should take a firm stand without discussing with the BJP leaders and call on the country”.
