Pune, January 8, 2021: In order to spread awareness about the housing society acts, conveyance deals and matters related to housing societies, the Pune District Cooperative Housing Society is conducting a special drive.

The association has demanded that the housing societies which are older than 12 years should be transferred to the society members.

Association president Suhas Patwardhan said, “According to Maharashtra Ownership Flats Act (MOFA)1963, the builder has to transfer the ownership of the society to the housing society. However, over 25 to 30 percent of the societies in the state have not got ownership rights.”

“Majority of the time, society members are unaware of MOFA and thus had to face various problems. So we have decided to spread awareness among the public. We have planned awareness programs and will spread it in various parts of the city. We will speak about Deemed Conveyance, arrange lectures by the experts among others”, said Patwardhan.

The long-pending demand of transfer of the society ownership to its members will also be taken up.

Meanwhile, the State Government has also started an awareness campaign regarding the deemed conveyance. The campaign will end on January 15.
