Pune: PMC Places Rs 30 Lakh Proposal For Renovation Work At National War Memorial

Pune, January 5, 2021: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Vikram Kumar presented the proposal for renovation work at National War Memorial to the standing committee on Monday. The budget cited in the proposal is Rs 30 lakhs for repairing and statue installation at the memorial.

The National War Memorial is situated near Morwada junction, Ghorpadi in Pune cantonment board area. The memorial was included as a tourist place by PMC in 2006. Tourists visit this place under PMPML’s Pune Darshan tour. The memorial includes a war museum, tanks and weapons used in various battles. Light and sound show are also held at this memorial.

The Indian Army’s Southern Command requested the PMC for funds for various repairing and renovation work at the memorial. It is also planned to install half statues of Paramveer Chakra awardees using fibre material. Considering this request the PMC made a proposal which was presented to the standing committee by PMC Commissioner on Monday.
