Pune, January 3, 2021: The two vaccines Covishield and Covaxin have received approval by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency use. Now only the announcement of the vaccination campaign remains. Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech are set to supply the required dose for the first phase.

In the first phase, the frontline corona warriors will be vaccinated. The expenses will be taken care of by the Central Government. An app for the vaccination process was launched by the centre named Co-WIN (Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network).

Let’s know everything about Co-WIN:

1.) The Union Health Minister has previously stated that people will be able to register themselves for the vaccine through this app, but that would happen after the vaccine is given to frontline officials and staff identified by local authorities.

2.) The app has not been launched yet. It is not currently available in the Play Store.

3.) The application is in the pre-product stage being accessed by the health authorities. Through this, the data of health workers is being uploaded, which will get vaccines in the first phase. More than 75 lakh beneficiaries have been registered during the dry run.

4.) It has been jointly developed by the Union Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

5.) So far, the app cannot be accessed by people nor is any self-registration ongoing. It is only being accessed by the authorities as the app was also tested during the vaccine dry run.

6.) After launch, the app will have four modules: user admin module, beneficiary registration, vaccination, and beneficiary receipt and status update.

7.) The module of beneficiary registration will be for those who want to register themselves. There will be three options under this: Self-registration, Personal registration, and Bulk upload.

8.) In self-registration, beneficiaries can register themselves directly through the web. Photo ID will be required for registration. If a person registers himself or herself, the data will be verified to check if he is above 50, or below 50.

9.) Surveyors and District administrators can also register beneficiaries

10.) There will be no on-spot registration at any stage of priority group vaccination.
