Pune: Three Men Attempt To Rape Woman After Calling For Fake Birthday Party

Pune, December 7, 2020: In a yet another shocking incident, a 37-year old woman was allegedly molested by three people who were known to her. The three people planned to lure her in on the pretext of a fake birthday party celebration. The woman lodged a complaint in the Kondhwa police station a month later because she fell ill after the incident.

The police have booked three people in connection with the case. The accused have been identified as Raj alias Kailas Mahesh Ganatra (34), Amol Kandoi and Siddharth Shetty. The police have arrested Kailas so far.

The accused currently has a construction business and the woman used to work in a private company but was rendered jobless due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman knew the three accused since the past three years. She had reportedly given a sum of Rs 11 lakh to a friend of hers known as Abid Sheikh. She had been asking Sheikh to return the amount of money but he was not doing so. The three accused knew about the situation and prepared a trap to lure her in. Amol called her on October 25 and asked her to come to Kailas’ birthday celebration and told her that Sheikh would also be there. The woman has alleged that the three men laid a trap for her and told her that they will help her to get the money back.

According to the cops, the woman believed her friends and went to the flat of Kailas. However, when she saw that Sheikh wasn’t there, she inquired about him to which the three accused replied that he will come soon. Later, the three accused danced naked in front of the woman and tried to rape her. The complainant was very scared but she still managed to run away and escape. She fell ill after the incident and lodged a complaint after a month.

Police said that a case has been registered against the three accused for offences under sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 354 (A) (sexual harassment), 504 (intentional insult) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
