Pune: Kidnapped Infant Rescued, Woman Kidnapper Arrested

Pune, November 20, 2020: A four-month-old baby girl was kidnapped in Hadapsar two days ago. The incident was reported to the police and the accused woman has been arrested. Also, the four-month-old baby has been handed over to her mother.

According to police, Manju Devidas More (22), a resident of Loni in Ahmednagar, had a quarrel with her husband on Tuesday. After that, she lodged a complaint against him with Loni police and decided to go to her native place in Satara. She sat in the ST bus from Ahmednagar to Satara. During the trip, Manju met a woman and they had a conversation.

In the conversation, Manju told the woman about the quarrel with her husband. On reaching the Swargate Bus Stand the woman offered Manju to come to her house. After that the two women went to eat snacks at a hotel in Hadapsar. Manju handed over her baby to the accused woman for a while. Taking advantage of the situation the woman escaped with the baby from the spot in Manju’s absence around 7.30 pm.

Manju searched for her baby everywhere but did not find her and she finally lodged a police complaint to the Pune police. A case was then registered against the accused woman by Hadapsar police station. Special teams were formed to search for the baby. Meanwhile, police received information that a woman with a baby was spotted in the Manjari area. The police rushed to the spot and arrested the woman identified as Aruna Rajendra Pawar (36), a resident of Mundhwa. The baby was handed over to her mother.

A judicial magistrate court has remanded the accused to police custody till November 24 for further investigation.
