Akurdi, September 10, 2020: On Wednesday midnight the supply of oxygen cylinders ran out of stock at Star hospital, Akurdi, which has been acquired by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for treatment of Coronavirus (Covid-19) patients. The hospital administration had to face many difficulties when the supply of cylinders was urgently needed. However, with the help of Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and MLA Anna Bansode 60 to 70 patients got relief along with the hospital administration.

Dr Amit Wagh, Director of Star Hospital informed, “Currently, 95 patients are undergoing treatment and at least 110 to 120 oxygen cylinders are required daily.”

The hospital administration faced many problems as the supply of cylinders was needed immediately. It wasn’t possible to get a cylinder at 1 am. Therefore, they tried to contact Municipal Commissioner Hardikar, as contact was not possible, they went to his house. They also contacted MLA Bansode about the problem.

After visiting Commissioner Hardikar’s house, he inquired whether Yashwantrao Chavan hospital (YCM), Pimpri, would supply cylinders immediately. They confirmed the supply only temporarily. MLA Bansode also reached and he was with the hospital administration till 4 am until the cylinders were handed over by YCM hospital.

“Eventually 20 oxygen cylinders were supplied to our hospital and patients’ lives were saved,” said Dr Wagh.
