Pimpri Chinchwad: No Water Supply Tomorrow In Many Areas Due To Repair And Maintenance Work

Pimpri, September 9, 2020: Maintenance and repair work of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s (MIDC) water abstraction and purification centre at Ravet will be carried out on Thursday, September 10 from 6 am to 8 pm. As a result, the water supply from MIDC will be cut off. The water supply will resume on Friday, September 11, but it will be insufficient with low pressure. This effect will be seen in MIDC areas in Pimpri, Chinchwad, Bhosari, and Dehu Road, Kasarwadi, Phugewadi, Nigdi, CME, R&D, VSNL, Dighi, Talwade, Chakan, Dehuroad Cantonment Board, OFDR.

The Ravet dam on Pavana river has the water purification centre of MIDC and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The municipal Corporation pumps daily 480 million litres water per day and MIDC purchases 30 million litres of water per day. This water is supplied in MIDC region especially in Kasarwadi, Phugewadi, Nigdi areas of Bhosari MIDC.

Last Thursday, the municipal corporation had shut down the water supply for maintenance and repair of the impure water pumping centre. Therefore, the water supply was closed on Thursday evening and Friday morning. However, due to a cut in power supply for an hour on Friday night and half-hour on Saturday evening water was not supplied in some parts.
