Coronavirus: Pune Police issue advisory for housing societies

Pune, June 23, 2020: Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham has issued an advisory for residential complexes/societies/apartments in the backdrop of Coronavirus epidemic and relaxations in lockdown. The advisory has been compiled based on best practices being followed by some of the societies in the city. The residents and housing societies have been appealed to follow the advisory. 

In order to stop the spread of COVID19, the lockdown has been implemented in Pune city from March 20. This lockdown has been increased from time to time. After that, unlock has been announced in stages. However, Corona infection is on the rise in Pune city, especially in residential areas. Therefore, to prevent the spread of COVID in residential complexes/societies/apartments, police has released the advisory. 

The advisory is on four topics:

1. How to regulate the entrance?

2. How to observe social distance?

3. Rules to be followed in case of sellers of essential commodities, workers, courier providers etc.

4. Advisory on the main issue of raising awareness among the people about how to take care of themselves and others 

 

1. How to regulate the entry?

  • Use of mask should be made mandatory during entry.
  • Install wash basin/hand sanitizer stand near the entrance and elevator. Care should be taken to ensure constant availability of water, soap, liquid soap and sanitizer.
  • Sanitize elevators, toilets as well as stairs regularly.
  • Check the body temperature of each person entering. Use Thermal Temperature Gun from a distance of 4-6 inches.
  • Check the oxygen level by an “oximeter” machine if the level is less than 95 then the concerned person should be examined immediately.

 

2. How to observe social distance?

  • When walking in the area/premises, keep a distance of 2 meters (6 feet) from each other, do not crowd.
  • Implementation of isolation instructions in respect of persons coming from abroad / persons from other places.

When the domestic maid/worker comes

A) Give a cloth bag to keep personal belongings (e.g. mobile, keys, purse).

B) Ask them to wash their hands, mouth and face with soap.

C) They should be instructed to wear masks and keep the social distance.

  

3. Rules to be followed in case of sellers of essential commodities, workers, courier providers etc.

  • Milk, vegetables, paper, other necessities, cleaners, domestic maids should be admitted to the society only after the daily screening test and sanitation at the entrance.
  • Domestic maids/ security guards/drivers should not be living in containment zones.
  • Any work other than repairs related to rains like plumbing, electrical work, furniture work should be prevented for some time.
  • New construction and renovation work should not be allowed.

4. Special instructions:      

  •  Corona infected patient and his family should not be boycotted or discriminated.
  • Special care should be taken for residents with high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, heart disease.
  • Counseling of patient, resident, contact person and person who has done home quarantine
