Pune: Social worker Ikram Khan carries out major foodgrains donation drive in Kondhwa

Pune, June 13, 2020: Prominent businessman, city golfer and social worker Ikram Khan carried out a major food grain donation drive in Kondhwa area of Pune on Friday evening. A large number of needy people turned out for obtaining the foodgrain kits distributed by the generous businessman.

Khan has been at the forefront in running community kitchens in Pune where his volunteers have fed over 40,000 poor and needy persons with hot lunches and dinner food packets during the lockdown. Khan was accompanied by a team of social workers and politicians from the area.

Khan said “ We have always believed in reducing hunger through social work and during the lockdown period, the people have no money to buy food grains. Their hunger is growing every day and it needs to be addressed at the earliest. We have received very good support from all the government department especially the Pune police in our endeavours. The police have been very helpful in helping us with the distribution of food grains and food packets.”

Ikram Khan is popularly known as golf champion of international repute who has been actively promoting the cause of humanity. He has received several awards of national integration and communal harmony by important personalities of the country. Around 500 foodgrain packets containing ration for more than a month were distributed amongst the needy.
