Pune: Cannabis cultivation in Daund, plants worth Rs 21 lakh seized

Daund, June 7, 2020: A case of cannabis cultivation in Girim village in Daund taluka has come to light. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Daund police station, under Pune rural police, raided the farms and seized a total of Rs 21 lakh worth of cannabis plants and cannabis for sale on June 5. A judicial magistrate court yesterday remanded the arrested person to custody till June 9.

Dattu Shankar Shinde (age 47), a resident of Girim, is the name of the person who has been remanded in custody. Daund police constable Kalyan Shingade has lodged a complaint against him following which FIR was registered. According to the police, a team from the Local Crime Branch of Pune rural police had received information that the accused was cultivating cannabis at Girim. A total of 173 cannabis plants and 2 bags of cannabis, a total 140 kg, kept for sale were seized during the raid.

Senior Police Inspector Padmakar Ghanwat of Local Crime Branch, Daund police station Inspector Sunil Mahadik, Assistant Inspector Dattatraya Gund, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dattatraya Jagtap, Constable Raviraj Kokare, Anil Kale, Sachin Gaikwad, Rauf Inamdar, Gurunath Gaikwad, Subhash Raut, Chandrakant Jadhav, Mahesh Gaikwad, Nilesh Kadam, Kashinath Rajpure, Samadhan Naikanavare’s team took this action. Daund police inspector Sunil Mahadik is conducting further investigation.
