Pune, June 6, 2020: Within 24 hours after the Haveli Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) issued an order restricting the movement of people from Wagholi, Narhe, Manjari Budruk and Kadamwakvasti to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation (PCMC) areas, the order has been cancelled now after stiff opposition from people. The police report also suggested law and order problem if the travel ban order was implemented.

The order had also restricted movement of people from Pune and PCMC areas to Wagholi, Narhe, Manjari Budruk and Kadamwakvasti. However, it was seen that a large number of people were gathering at the borders of these villages as many roads passed through them. Therefore, SDO Sachin Baravkar today issued another order cancelling his travel ban order which was issued yesterday.

The new order states, “as per the report submitted by block development officer many roads are passing through these four villages and due to implementation of the travel ban, there is a gathering of a large number of people on the roads. Therefore, it is difficult to implement COVID19 management measures. Also, there is anger among people against the travel ban order. Police Inspectors of Wagholi, Lonikand and Sinhgad road, have reported that law and order issue can’t be ruled out. Therefore, the travel ban order dated June 5 is cancelled.”
