141 new cases of COVID detected in Pune district today, 5 deaths

Pune, May 15, 2020: A total of 141 new patients infected with Coronavirus were found in Pune district in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of patients to 3567 in the district. Also, Coronavirus claimed 5 lives while 177 patients were discharged from hospitals after being cured of COVID19.

 

District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Bhagwan Pawar said that out of total 3567 patients 1879 have been cured and discharged from hospitals, while 186 people have died. There are still 1502 active patients undergoing treatment including 142 critical patients. Most of the patients are from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area. Till now 28,989 people have been tested in the district and results of 1072 persons are still awaited.

 

The 3567 patients include 3106 from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area, 184 from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), 128 from Pune Cantonment, 27 from Khadki Cantonment, 2 from Dehuroad Cantonment and 120 from Pune rural areas. In the Pune rural areas, there are 7 from Baramati town, 2 from Baramati rural, 26 from Daund town, 1 from Jejuri, 1 from Talegaon Dabhade, 46 from Haveli, 7 from Shirur, 1 from Junnar, 1 from Khed, 2 from Mulshi, 18 from Velha, 5 from Bhor, 1 from Indapur, 1 from Daund rural and 1 from Maval.

 

Among the five deaths, three were men and two women and all of them were between the age group 39 to 80. They were residents of Ghorpade Peth, Kamraj Nagar in Yerwada, Nagpur Chawl in Yerwada, Phursungi and Laxminagar in Yerwada in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area.

 

The number of Covid-19 patients in Maharashtra rose to 29,100 with 1,576 new cases today. There were 49 COVID-related deaths in the state today. Out of the 49 deaths today, 29 were men and 20 women. 22 of them aged over 60 years, 23 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 4 were aged less than 40 years. 32 out of 49 patients (65%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 1068 in the state. 6564 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery.

 

Out of 2,50,436 laboratory samples, 2,21,336 were negative and 29,100 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 1473 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 14,167 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 58.97 lakh population was done. Currently, 3,29,302 people are in-home quarantine and 16,306 people are in institutional quarantine.

 

Across India, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID patients has reached 81970 out of which 27,919 have been cured and discharged while 2649 people have died. One patient has migrated out of the country while 51,401 active patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
