3.686 Million Tonne loading on Central Railway during last one month

Mumbai, 26 April 2020- Indian Railways is playing a critical role in the fight against COVID19 by ensuring timely transportation of essential goods and commodities. Railway personnel have risen to the occasion and are doing an outstanding work with passion and dedication.

During this lock down period, Central Railway is battling Coronavirus by ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential commodities across the country. Though the passenger services were stopped to prevent spread of COVID19, the supply of essential commodities like food grains, medicine, coal, petrol, diesel, kerosene & other essential things like milk, vegetable & other essential/emergency services over Indian Railways continued to be operated through freight/ special parcel trains.

About 75 rakes are being handled at various terminals for loading/unloading daily from Mumbai, Nagpur, Bhusaval, Solapur and Pune divisions of Central Railway. Central Railway staff at various good sheds, stations and control offices are working 24X7 for safe and smooth running of goods trains.

Central Railway loaded 3.686 Million Tonnes of essential commodities through 70,374 Wagons in 1,415 rakes from 23.3.2020 to 22.4.2020. During this period, Central Railway loaded Coal in 34,497 wagons, which is nearly 50% of its total loading and container in 25,380 wagons which is 36%. During same period CR loaded 2,270 wagons (daily average) including 1113 wagons of coal (daily average).

Nagpur Division of Central Railway loaded 2.196 Million Tonnes coal through 31,867 Wagons in 551 rakes from 25.3.2020 to 24.4.2020.
