Pune Coronavirus: Policeman in uniform robbed by jobless workers for cash, valuables

Pimpri-Chinchwad, April 24, 2020: A policeman of Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate was assaulted and robbed on the outskirts of Rase village near Chakan on April 20 night. Now Crime Branch unit 3 and anti-vehicle theft squad has arrested the three accused.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ashwin Arun Rokade (27), Shah Rukh Ijazkhan Pathan (22), Pratik Yogiraj Khadse (21), all hailing from Washim district, who resided in Chakan. They worked as labourers.

Police Naik Inderkumar Tukaram Dhotre, who is attached with Chakan police station, is a resident of Alandi. According to senior police inspector Shankar Babar, Dhotre was riding a two-wheeler for duty in Khaki uniform around 8.30 pm on Tuesday. When he reached the Rase village near Chakan, the accused beat him up with wooden sticks and snatched his mobile phone and cash amounting to Rs 9,000. They also pushed Dhotre in a ditch along the road and fled from there. Dhotre somehow reached the police station and lodged complaint in the early hours of Wednesday.

Commissioner of Police Sandeep Bishnoi, Additional Commissioner Ramnath Pokale and DCP (crime) Sudhir Hiremath issued instructions to immediately arrest the accused persons. Accordingly, three teams were formed to trace the robbers.

Assistant Inspector of Police Satish Kamble from the Crime Branch got information about the accused in the case. Accordingly, the three men were arrested from Chakan-Shikrapur road within 12 hours of the incident being reported. A judicial magistrate court has remanded them to police custody till April 27.

ACP (Crime 1) RR Patil, ACP (Crime 2) Shridhar Jadhav supervised the investigation team which included Senior Police Inspectors Sudhir Aspat, Shankar Babar, Assistant Inspector Satish Kamble, Police Sub-Inspector Girish Chamle, and policemen Viju Kamble, Pathan, Sanap, Chavan, Vivekanand Sapkale, Nitin Parale, Yadu Adhari, Nathak Kekan, Yogesh Kolekar, Sachin More , Trinyan Balsaraf, Sagar Jainak, Raj Hanmante, Pramod Dhakne, Mahesh Bhalchim, Shashikant Nangre, Arun Sable, Amol Sakore, Sachin Ugle, technical analyst head constable Nagesh Mali and Rajendra Shete.
