More than 1.5 lakh passengers were caught without tickets

5 March 2020, Pune- Extensive ticket checking campaigns are being conducted in Pune-Malavali, Pune-Baramati, Pune-Miraj and Miraj-Kolhapur sections of Pune division. In the eleven months of April 2019 to February 2020 this year, during the ticket check, an amount of about 18 crore rupees has been recovered in 3 lakh 43 thousand cases. Out of these, one lakh 59 thousand people were found traveling without tickets from which a fine of 8 crore 85 lakh was charged. In the same period of last year, in 3 lakh 4 thousand cases, an amount of about 15 crores was collected as fine while 1 lakh 38 thousand people were caught traveling without tickets from which more than 7 crores 48 lakh fine was recovered.

It was also seen that there has been a 15 percent increase in the number of people traveling without tickets.

The above action was done under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager  Renu Sharma, Additional Divisional Railway Manager  Neelam Chandra and Swaraj Bajpayee, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager  Sunil Mishra, Divisional Commercial Manager  Suresh chandra Jain, Assistant Commercial Manager S.V.N. Subhash.

This type of ticket check is being run regularly by the railway administration. Passengers are requested to travel only with proper tickets during the journey, otherwise they will have to pay a fine under the Railways Act and in the event of non-payment, they can also be sentenced to jail.
