Students of INIFD Deccan Showcased “The Unbroken Bond”

  • INIFD Deccan students expressed the bond between Indian textile and rest of the world through their creative designs at annual fashion show 2015-16

Pune, January 31, 2016: INIFD Deccan (Inter National Institute of Fashion Design) Pune celebrated their 11 Years of glory and success, by hosting the Annual Fashion Show and Exhibition 2015-16 – “The Unbroken Bond”. The show was an initiative to express bond between Indian textile and rest of the world through art and was showcased at Hotel Novotel, Pune.

Mr. Amit Agrawal, Director, INIFD Deccan says, “This is an annual event proudly conducted by the institute to encourage the students, and offer them a platform to showcase their talent and creativity.”

The art of weaving and other techniques are usually passed from generation to generation. The art remains limited to a certain group of artisans. And there is a need that buyers should be made aware of the art, and reckon the effort that goes into the making of the textile.  “The Unbroken Bond” was student’s effort to make this bond even stronger. It was a tribute to people who have kept the bond alive. It was an effort to revive the ancient art. They tried to make ancient weaving methods alive again and to rejuvenate the connection between the Indian textile and other traditions, cultures and customs.

This fashion extravaganza was an evening to remember as the guests witnessed some spectacular designs in each of the Seven themes – Twiggy look, Egyptian look, Edwardian look, Hippie look, Preppy look, Moroccan look, Persian look. The event showcased themes with beautiful costumes that were a perfect blend of Indian and western cultures, all designed by the students of INIFD Deccan Pune. The event also showcased an Exhibition of home décor artefacts and paintings. The passion, dedication and creative brilliance of the students were reflected in their creations on the themes.

This grand event unfolded in the presence of Chief Guest and Jury Mr Ashley Rebello (Acclaimed Bollywood Fashion Designer & Official Stylist of Salman Khan) along with Mr. ChandrakantSonawane (Lead Costume Designer for Bollywood Blockbuster BajiraoMastani), Ms. PranatiPrakash (Miss Talented – Femina Miss India 2015) and Mr. AmitAgrawal (Director, INIFD Deccan). The renowned Fashion Choreographer Mr. Abhyang Kuwalekar was the Show Director & Mr. Cyrus Pestonjee(Director -Fashion and Lifestyle Paradise Magazine)was also present at the show.

Mr. Ashley Rebello Said, “Designers have put up a great show. I am quite delighted by the professionalism that has been reflected through the show. Each theme has been depicted well, and it was a mesmerising show.”

Mr. AmitAgrawal (Director of INIFD, Deccan Pune) said, The preparation started six months back. We finally zeroed on eight themes. It was a mammoth of efforts from the mentors, faculty and the team. We have been able to put up a great show. I am really proud of all the people who contributed to this success. It was a spectacle to be witnessed.”
