Hinjawadi (Pune), August 23, 2019 : After years of wait for thousands of people travelling to the IT Park in Hinjawadi, there is a good news. The alternative road to the IT Park via Mhalunge-Maan village will become a reality in the coming months and they will get some respite from daily traffic jams on road from Wakad to Shivaji Chowk, Hinjawadi.

According to Hinjawadi Employees and Residents Trust (HEART), land acquisition issue in the Hinjawadi zone blocking the six  lane Maan – Mhalunge road is resolved. The farmers’ demands are met and they are handing over the land to Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Land marking has started and the process would get over in two weeks.

Hinjawadi is second home for IT professionals in Pune, all major IT companies have offices in Hinjawadi. About five lakhs people travel to the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, Hinjawadi, everyday for work. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) wanted to develop the road from Mhalunge to Maan village, adjacent to Hinjawadi. However, land for stretch in Maan village could not be acquired due to protest from farmers who demanded better compensation. After years of talks, the issue has been resolved.

Most of part of the 6.5 km road is already constructed and remaining section will be constructed in the next few months.
