Girl who walks 14km daily to attend the school gets an electric bicycle from Pune businessman

Pune, January 25, 2019 : Nikita Krushna More is a brave girl from Poladpur Taluka of Raigad District. The student in 9th standard walks 14 km daily to attend the school. Her village is in remote area and she must walk through the forest which adds to the risk. What keeps her going is her urge for education. But now, her journey to the school will become a little easy. Because Nikita has now got a brand-new electric bicycle.

After knowing Nikita’s story, a businessman from Pune has come forward to help her. Anirudhha Deshpande, MD, City Corporation today handed over the key of the electric bicycle to Nikita. Nikita, along with her mother Rajeshri, brother Nivesh and Headmistress of Nikita’s school Vinita Pawar were present for this occasion in Pune.

This cycle is of Nibe Motors which can be fully charged in 2 hours and runs for 100 km with a speed of 25 km per hour. It has a user-friendly carrier charger and when not charged, it can be used as a regular non-electric cycle.

Anirudhha Deshpande said that, I was very impressed by Nikita’s love for education. Her determination to walk 14 km daily and that too through the forest area, to attend the school is commendable. I hope that this electric bicycle will motivate her and will make her way easier.

Nikita is a student of ‘Swa. Shantaram Shankar Jadhav New English School’ situated in the village Palchil. She said that, I have to leave 2 hours before the school timing daily as I walk 7km one way. I get to see wild boars and snakes sometimes in the forest. Even if I feel afraid, I think about the school and my education which keeps me moving. I want to become a doctor in future and I really appreciate the help offered by Anirudhha Deshpande.
