This year less drunk drivers in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pune – A total 873 persons in Pune and 119 in Pimpri-Chinchwad were caught by police for allegedly driving under influence of alcohol after New Year party. Thousand others were penalised for violating other traffic rules.
Pune police had deployed 6000 personnel on bandobast duty and traffic branch check points were set up at 44 points.
Last year 1144 persons were caught by the Pune city police for driving under influence of alcohol on the occasion of new year. Since August 15, Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate has formed.
About 5,000 persons were booked by the police for violating traffic safety norms, including 923 persons for rash driving, and 120 persons for riding triple seat.
