Deepak Mankar, 3 others booked for cheating, forgery

Pune – NCP corporator and former deputy mayor Deepak Mankar and his three accomplices have been booked by Pune city police on charges of cheating and forgery after they registered bogus documents in order to grab land of a woman in Lohgaon and Viman Nagar.

Aditi Dixit of Prabhat Road has lodged the FIR in this regard with Vishrantwadi police station on Friday. The case has been registered against Mankar, Sadhana Vartak, Umesh Kothawade of M/s Vasudha Enterprises as well as the company itself.

According to police, the incident took place on June 23, 2004 at the office of Haveli sub registrar no. 8 in Vishrantwadi. The complainant owns land in Lohgaon and Viman Nagar. The accused persons allegedly got the bogus documents related to development of these land registered at the registrar office. Later they gained monetary benefits but did not pass on the benefits to her.The complainant was abroad and the accused took advantage of her absence.

Police have charged the accused persons for offences under sections 420 (cheating), and other sections related to forgery under the Indian Penal Code.

Dixit had last month filed a case against her uncle Mukund Parshuram Dixit, and Deepak Mankar and Sadana Vartak for allegedly grabbing her land in Shivaji nagar, Sadhu Vaswani chowk and Pimpri Waghire after she har approached Mankar through Vartak for development of these land. The accused misused the document and signature claiming that she is the power attorney holder.

Mankar is currently lodged in Yerwada central jail in connection with abetment of suicide of social worker Jitendra Jagtap.
