NEW FOOT OVER BRIDGE GETS INAUGURATED AT ARMED FORCES MEDICAL COLLEGE, PUNE

Lieutenant General DR Soni, PVSM, VSM, ADC General Officer Commanding -in-Chief, Southern Command inaugurated the Foot Over Bridge (FOB) from Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) to General Parade Ground in presence of  Major General Madhuri Kanitkar, AVSM, VSM Dean and Deputy Commandant, AFMC. The FOB was a long-felt requirement of the College since AFMC did not have adequate grounds and facilities in house to conduct training activities, sporting events and inter collegiate tournaments. Headquarter Southern Command allotted the land for developing sports infrastructure and accordingly Hockey and Cricket grounds were developed by AFMC with support  from Bombay Engineer Group & Centre Kirkee, inside General Parade Ground.  However, use of the facilities were restricted due to the inherent dangers of crossing the busy accident prone Pune Sholapur road on NH-17. The Army Commander accorded the approval for construction of the Foot Over Bridge in May 2018 and the construction was completed in record time of two and half months to enable connectivity from AFMC Pune to the Training Area inside General Parade Ground. The FOB aptly named “Kilroy” as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of AFMC will be a boon for the medical cadets, allowing them to use sporting facilities inside the parade ground.
