Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni gets top British Honors

Pune, July 6, 2018: Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni, renowned senior urologist from Pune will be conferred with Honorary ‘Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons’ (FRCS), a rare honor by Royal College of Surgeons, England. Also, recently, Guy’s Hospital and The British Association of Urological Surgeons honored Dr. Kulkarni for his distinguished contribution in Urological Surgery and academics.

Dr. Kulkarni specializes in male urethral surgery. He has a procedure named after him, which is known as ‘Kulkarni’s Technique for Urethral Reconstruction’ world over. He teaches this surgery to urologists for free at his Kulkarni School of Urethral Surgery.

For this contribution, The British Association of Urological Surgeons has given Honorary Membership to Dr. Kulkarni which is considered to a rare honor. While, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust has honored him with ‘Visiting Professorship’.

Also, few months back Dr. Kulkarni was elected as the Vice President of the Society International De Urology. He is the second Indian to be elected for this honor. Last year, he received Dr. B. C. Roy National Award at the hands of President, which is considered as one of the highest achievement in Medical Stream.

The Doctor has completed his MBBS from Pune’s B. J. Medical College in 1976 and after that has been trained under the guidance of famous surgeon P. K. Bharucha. In England he did his training for five years in Urology and then came back to India to continue his practice. Dr. Jyotsna Kulkarni, wife of Dr. Kulkarni is the first women Laparoscopic Surgeon to perform the first ‘Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy’ in 1990 in Pune.
