‘Namacha Gajar’ to mesmerise Punekars with Abhangas and Bhajanas
Pune, June 28, 2018: Renowned vocalists are set to present ‘Namacha Gajar’, a devotional music programme based on Abhangas and bhajanas. The programme has received overwhelming response from the Punekars and its the fourth consecutive year now. Organised by Kalashree Sangeet Mandal in association with ABIL this event will be held on this Thursday, July 5th at the MES Bal Shikshan Mandir Auditorium, Mayur Colony, Kothrud at 5.30 pm. Entry for this programme is free for all and will be on a first come first serve basis.
Organised every year to commemorate the tradition of ‘Waari’ this musical programme celebrates the spirit of pilgrims and renowned artists mesmerise the audience with Abhangas and Bhajanas. This year, senior vocalist Devaki Pandit and renowned Bhajan Samrat Balasaheb Waikar will be performing at this event. Gracing the stage there will also be Pt. Bhimsen Joshi’s son and disciple vocalist Pt. Shrinivas Joshi from Kirana Gharana along with his son Master Viraj Joshi.
The vocalists will be accompanied by Prashant Pandav on Tabla, Milind Kulkarni on Harmonium, Gambhir Maharaj on Pakhawaj and Sadashiv Maharaj on Taal Vadya.
On this occasion, senior playback singer Devaki Pandit will be felicitated with the ‘Vaishnav Award’ for her exemplary contribution in the field of Hindustani classical music and in the memory of late Pt. H.B. Vishwanath Maharaj Ingle.
