‘Sangeet Sandhya’ – An evening to pay tribute to Pt. Shrikant Deshpande
Pune, June 5, 2018: A classical event ‘Sangeet Snadhya’ is organised in the city on the occasion of the birth anniversary of acclaimed Indian classical vocalist Pt. Shrikant Deshpande. Puneites will get a chance to get mesmerised with the melodious performance of renowned artists Bhuvanesh Komkali and Kalpana Zokarkar. The event is free and open for all.
Sheela Deshpande, wife of Pt. Shrikant Deshpande and Pt. Shrikant Deshpande Mitramandal are jointly organizing the event. This musical performance will take place on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha in Kothrud at 5 pm.
The noted vocalists will be accompanied by Bharat Kamat on Tabla and Suyog Kundalkar on Harmonium. The event will be anchored by Anand Deshmukh.
Pt. Shrikant Deshpande was the grandson of the veteran musician and vocalist Sawai Gandharva and is claimed as one of the early disciple of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. The love for music he posses are the traits of his father. Besides being a profound singer himself, Pt. Shrikant Deshpande was an integral part of the Sawai Gandharva Music festival held every year. He was keen on introducing new, young and talented artists to this huge platform.
The passes will be available at Navdikar Musicals, opposite Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha from Thursday, June 7.
