This Environment Day, Queen of Deccan spearheads the cleanliness drive

This year, India is the global host for World Environment Day 2018, taking place on June 5 with the theme of ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, the world will come together to combat plastic pollution.

The Queen of Deccan, Pune, has been setting the example of a city coming together to keep the localities, roads clean and green. APCCI along with PMC and the citizens of the city have been spearheading the cleanliness and awareness programme via various initiatives and programmes.

APCCI has conducted over more than 100 cleanliness and waste management awareness drives across various schools, colleges, and corporations. Urging volunteers across the city to spread the message of waste management, APCCI has succeeded in covering more than 60 percent of the city through the aid and proactive volunteer ship of the localities. The one of its kind public-private partnership now collects 200 tons of garbage every day as compared to 75 – 80 tons of garbage in 2017. The initiative has proactively installed 83 trillos, 120 glutton litter picking machine, 1400 bins since their inception. Placing more than 200 types of equipment and vehicles across the city, APCCI mobilizes volunteers and provides its vehicles to collect and transport the collected waste to PMC facilities on important city events such as Marathons, Tournaments, and other events, special days like Independent Day, Republic Day, Environment Day.

APCCI has helped Pune, set an example of all the citizens collectively coming together and striving to be a better and a sustainable city.
